Halloween 2007

Halloween 2007 was just kind of blah. The best part was that the kids were very excited about their costumes. Xander was Optimus Prime (leader of the Autobots), Grace was Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and Greta was Cinderella. We had a flower and strawberry costume from Grace and Greta's first Halloween and the kids unanimously decided Marie would be "baby Strawberry Shortcake." I would have picked the flower one.

Our neighborhood is sort of lame for trick or treating so we put a bowl of candy on the porch and headed out at 6:30 (otherwise known as bedtime!) to go to the fall festival at church. I was expecting a trunk or treat with lots of candy fast. Grace and Greta were a little sick and I was hoping to go there and back and get tons of candy without making them walk around too much. We get there and ended up having to walk forever to get to the festivities, and then we realize there are no trunks. Instead, they had little games for the kids and you had to wait in line and play the game to get a piece of candy! With 3 kids waiting and playing each game it took forever and we ended up with just a few pieces of blah candy. We got some cotton candy on the way back to the car but the girls decide they hate it, so I ate it, of course. We get home at 7:45 (past bedtime) and Jon took the kids to a couple of neighborhood houses before calling it a night. Of course, our bowl of candy was empty. Luckily for me, I had picked out all the good stuff ahead of time! We finally got the kids to bed around 9 which is so late for us! Now Greta has no voice from being outside. Hopefully she'll feel ok tomorrow.

Here's some costume pictures. Don't ask where our pumpkin pictures are- we completely forgot to get one, but we did make a fun spooky cookie house!

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog! I've started this blog to keep all our friends and family up to date on what's going on at our house because I'm so bad about calling anyone or answering the phone or even e-mailing these days! I also hope to keep a record of all the cute things the kids have done before I forget about it because I've been really bad about keeping a notebook or scrapbook for all that stuff. And, lastly, so I can comment on whatever else is on my mind without boring Jon or my friends all the time whenever I have the chance to talk with another real live adult!

For anyone who doesn't know me, I'm a stay at home mom to 4 beautiful children. Xander is 6 and in kindergarten, Grace and Greta are identical 3 yr olds, and Marie is almost 3 months old. In the past, I was a student but I haven't been to school or worked at all since I got my Masters in Sociology in 2005. My husband is in the military and we have moved around quite a bit in the past but should be staying put for a few years. He is working some crazy hours right now but I feel pretty lucky that he isn't in Iraq.
