I was crafty!

I was crafty last night! I know...You all probably need a second to pull yourself off the floor from the shock. I went to a friend's house to learn how to make hairbows for the girls. It was really hard! I spent 2 hours making 2 bows! I'm not really thrilled with either of them but they aren't that bad for my first try. When I got home, I made one more (which also took at least an hour!) and I think it turned out better, so maybe I can be crafty after all!

Here's my first three:

Those are in order of how I made them. The last one was made with a different loop style than the other two. I would normally make 2 matching bows but I had no idea that I would use a whole spool of ribbon on one bow!! I did waste quite a bit with mistakes but I think even if I had done it perfectly that I wouldn't have had enough for 2 bows that size from one spool. I even lined the clips so that they would be non-slip in the girls' hair.

Here's a couple of the girls with their bows in their hair.

Wow.... not bad for your first try I guess! jk, I couldn't do that! The girls are such great models look at them posing! Kaylea doesn't like cameras that much anymore... I think she is tired of her Mimi taking so many pictures lol

I'm seriously impressed! I did have to read that first line twice. teehee

Michael's (at least here, anyway) carries lots of cute ribbon that's only $1 a spool. Using that, making them would have to be lots cheaper than the expensive Gymboree ones. Good job!

Penny, Michael's is where I got my ribbon. I got a pack of 6 spools for $5. I actually just made another tiny bow that only took about 45min. I'm improving.

Summer- my kids have to be bribed to pose most of the time.

Cool! You can teach me next time you're here. :-)

Maybe you can go into business doing it? There is a website called lilsugarplum.com that she makes bows and sells them onoline... Kaylea won one this week.

True that about the bribery.... why must parenthood always come down to bribery... were we like that as kids? ok I guess so LOL

OH MY goodness!! My baby is actually believing in her abilities to craft! I think I might have a tear in my eye!! Not joking either... You have always been able to do ANYTHING you've put your mind to...and, do it well... You've just been convinced that you don't have any artistic abilities for some weird reason...

maybe it's because you're still scary with knives??

OH...and these look great for a first and second effort...keep up the practice and you'll not only find it gets easier, but save tons of money!
