Stop the Madness!
I can't take the early wakings! School is out this week, so we have no need to wake up early. Yet, still the kids are up by 5 or 6 and never later than 6:30. Mostly, they will leave me alone but I can't really sleep once I know they are awake because I have to keep an ear out for them. This weekend, Xander was up playing by 4:45! How could these kids be mine? I don't think I could have ever been an early bird and remember Nathan making me mad by waking me up in the mornings to go watch cartoons with him (much like X goes and wakes up G&G). I've told Xander he must stay in his room until 6 (and he mostly does), but 6 is still pretty rough on me. I can't tell him 7 because that would be too late on school days. Even when they go to bed late, they still wake up early. Any ideas to change their internal clocks? If we keep Grace and Greta in a crib or pack n play they sleep much later, but they can't be in baby beds forever. I remember the days, way back when Xander was a baby when he'd sleep until 9....that was nice. Sure, he had probably been screaming until 3am, but just to see the clock say 9 instead of 5 is nice in the morning. I bet Marie would sleep until 8 or 9 too if the kids weren't waking us up.

Wow. I thought Kaylea was early waking up at 7am on the dot every day. Most of the time I leave her in her crib and she sings and talks to herself and her stuffed animals for like an hour. (I can hear her on the speaker, but I turn it off so I can sleep - is that bad?) :-) Kaylea hasn't tried climbing out of her crib once...she likes it in there. I've heard if they like it in there let them stay until the try to climb out. (Unless they are way too big for it of course.) Baths before bedtime usually help her sleep better and lavender lotion too. Lavender is soothing, and if their skin is dry it doesn't help them sleep - I read about lavender lotion somewhere online probably. I've also heard that warm milk before bedtime helps you to sleep (but I always had cold milk - yuck - warm milk) Also if their room is really bright in the morning from the sun shining outside - that could wake them up lol cover their window with black garbage bags? hahaha jk. They must have gotten your dads early to rise genes... (I think it was Scott right?)
Why don't you get Xander a *gasp* TV FOR HIS ROOM, that way you can lock him in there and he won't wake the girls to watch TV with him.
(I'm just kidding, I don't believe kids should have TV in their rooms...)
I guess I should count my blessings, b/c Brooke sleeps until at least 7:30 on weekends, and then she just watches TV until I wake up. She even lets the dog out for me, and makes her own breakfast. She used to wake me up to let me know she was up, and I told her to quit that, so now she just does her own thing.
Just work on it 15minutes at a time...delay bedtime by 15min each night for two weeks...then the following two weeks delay it another 15min as a regimen....another 15...so on so forth until you will see a difference...slow go, but can't see why it won't work if consistent. Plus, make it unpleasant for him whenever he wakens the girls...put one of his favorite toys into time out for x amount of days and continue taking away each day...1 main one 1st time..2 main ones second time..3 main ones third time...and, add taking away TV with that. He's got you buffaloed right now, but you're also too occupied with Marie and the twins to really want to play hard ball with him...but, if you're serious about it, then you have to make changes that mean something to him.
